Genuine Psychics

How can you tell if the psychic you depend on is genuine? Psychics do have a standard they must follow, and there are a few ways of telling the genuine psychics from the phonies.

Though the term "psychic" is thrown about pretty loosely, it can be defined as a person who is sensitive to phenomena beyond our normal range of perception. Because of the supernatural aspect of psychic phenomena (spiritual phenomenon being notoriously difficult to test scientifically) there are a few accepted ways of scientifically determining if a person is a genuine psychic or not.

Genuine Psychic Readings

Here's a few "rules" to figuring out if your're receiving genuine psychic readings.

  1. Genuine psychics can make predictions that are correct more often than they are incorrect. Opinion is divided as to how "correct" a psychic should be to be considered genuine. If a person predicts the flip of a coin correctly ten times in a row, is that enough to say they have psychic abilities? This is a personal decision made from person to person, though it is important to point out that for most religious organizations, a "prophet" (sort of an old-school psychic) had to be right every single time. I guess our standards have lowered.
  2. Genuine psychics have references. This may seem a bit business-like for such an ethereal field, but think about it -- if a person has genuine psychic powers, you'd think they'd have the foresight to prepare a CV. Just saying. Check your psychic's references, and ask your fellow spiritualist friends for recommendations.
  3. Genuine psychics make you feel good inside. This is an intangible thing but probably the most important on the list. If you go to a psychic who leaves you with an "empty" or "unsatisfied" feeling, or if you just don't "buy" their psychic powers, they may not be genuine. This kind of thinking makes sense even to skeptics -- if a visit to a psychic is little more than a "boost" in positivity good for a laugh, why go to a psychic who isn't worth the price of admission? Genuine psychics will make you feel at peace. Bottom line.

Choosing a Genuine Psychic

Genuine Psychic ReadingsAs a closing note, here's a good guide to "choosing a genuine psychic". Use your common sense and find a real psychic using the steps below.

  1. Figure out why you want to go to a psychic. Different psychics will give you different "kinds" of readings. Figure out if there's a psychic "specialty" you want to see. Psychics are divided in their abilities, so you may not want to look for someone that talks with the dead to help you find your lottery numbers.
  2. Ask your pals and your family members for recommendations. I've found that the best psychics I've been to do not even advertise, but rather they depend on word of mouth for business.
  3. If you can't get a good recommendation, search online for "psychics" in your area and call them and ask for their references. They'll be happy to oblige.
  4. The most important step -- talk to your psychic before you choose to pony up your $50. Ask them detailed questions about their spiritual beliefs and influences, how they were trained, and how many long-term clients they have.
